Cutting things…
Today was a day for cutting!…
First, I cut some hair. I am no barber, but I was presented with a unique situation. The hair that I cut was for a gentleman who has won a silver medal with the US Olympic Weight Lifting Team. He is a part of our church. The unique thing about the guy is that he does not have full use of his muscles. He can make big moves involving strength, but not the little moves that are precise. Check out his story at http://www.tysonsquestforthegold.com/. He is getting ready to go to a competition in Ireland next week. Saving money for the big trip, he needed someone to help him get ready. It is the least that I can do. He has challenged me with the motivation and drive that he has despite the obstacles that he faces each day because of a stroke. I’m ashamed that I do not have half of his drive with even a fraction of his obstacles. If you have time, check out his ten-minute video below…
I also just got through cutting the grass! After a crazy saga with my broken riding lawnmower, I reconnected the spark plug wire…and it cranked immediately. I guess that the battery just needed to rest overnight (see previous blog). Unfortunately, the after-market part that I bought to fix the thing came really warped. I thought that it would not be a problem, but it keeps throwing the belt off! Still more fixing to do!
It seems that my kids have adopted the fix-it gene. I caught both Thomas and Ava tonight ”fixing” things.
Check out my wife’s blog about Thomas. He is a pretty sensitive guy.
